Mehran University admin being threatened for canceling fake degree

Karachi: The management of Mehran Engineering University Jamshoro has come under threat after the cancellation of fake degree of a powerful student.

Three top officers of the university told media sources that few well-known politicians, including two elected representatives were allegedly threatening as well as pressurizing the management of university, particularly the Controller of Examination, to verify the fake degree of failed student, Aijaz Iqbal Arain.

As per the documentary proofs available to a private news source, Aijaz Iqbal Arain got a job in Descon Engineering Limited Lahore after the submission of fake documents.

The academic record of the student was sent to the Mehran University for verification through a third party company Human Resources Solutions International.

After the complete verification of academic documents, Controller of University Suhail Khatian declared the academic record of Arain as fake, made-up and mock. As a result, Arain lost the job in a software company.

Suhail Khatian put up a complaint against Aijaz Iqbal for using the false documents false documents of university for job and for higher studies. On the other hand, Arain not only got a job in Pakistan however also in the UAE for many years besides getting a master’s degree from that university.

Suhail Khatian said that the fake degree of Aijaz Arain was only a simple issue however some highly powerful persons had made it a matter of their ego.

“If the educational documents of someone are fake how can these be declared as authentic?” he argued. 

Aijaz Iqbal was the enrolled aspirant of varsity however he could not pass exams and was declared as failed.

“Last year Aijaz move toward me through some leading politicians to verify his fake documents as authentic though I plainly refused to do so,” said Khatian.

Khatian furthermore said that some influential persons had threatened him via phone calls and letters and he had informed the management of university and police regarding this situation.

The representative of Mehran University IH Soomro said that the management had declared the documents of Aijaz Arain as bogus and got an FIR registered against him.

“No employee of university is involved in the issuance of fake degree. Though, the vice chancellor has set up an investigation committee to review the issue,” he said.

While replying to a question, Soomro said if someone tried to pressurize the administration of varsity for any illegal work, they will be handled according to the law.   

Aijaz Iqbal further told media sources that he had passed all exams and the university had issued him a pass certificate, marksheet as well as a degree and on the basis of these documents he worked in United Arab Emirates and got his master’s degree however now it was beyond him why Mr. Khatian had declared his documents as fake and got an FIR registered case against him because of which he lost his job.

To a question, Arain said neither he nor any other person related to him had threatened Mr. Khatian or any other officer of the university.  “I just requested an MNA as well as adviser to the CM for resolving the issue; might be they had make contact with registrar or any other officer of university,” he added.

Arain also said:

“I have challenged this action of the registrar as well as the university in the Sindh High Court and am confident that I will get justice.”
