Government training large number of young girls under ICT for Girls Programme

Islamabad: Information Technology Minister, Anushe Rehman, has recently shed the light on a few women-centric programs hold at the national level.

She was speaking at Youth Parliament’s special session on ‘State of eGovernance and IT in Pakistan.’

“The ICT for Girls Programme, is targeted at training the young girls along with the latest advancement in technologies, is functional”, she added. Young girls from backward regions of Pakistan are being trained for coding as well as computing.

Microsoft is helping the government for this training session. Government is confident that the training imparted will assist these young girls in economic empowerment as well as in job placements.

Under the similar training programme, more than 150 girls empowerment centers have also been established.

Anushe said that the government is spending billions of rupees for the confirm access to telecom and broadband services crosswise the country. Government is happy along with the penetration of broadband services which has now beaten 24 percent however a couple of years ago it was just 3 percent.

Furthermore, the Government is also doing a study to offer 30,000 smartphones and training to women belonging to the low income group.
