Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on Saturday granted the formal approval to ‘Khadim-e-Punjab Schools Programme’ and asked for the construction of more classrooms in schools.

While presiding over a meeting, he also approved the design of classrooms to be constructed in the schools.

According to the given statement of CM, thousands of additional classrooms will be constructed at a cost of Rs 15 billion in 16 regions of south Punjab on priority basis which will definitely result in better educational facilities to students in Punjab.

The government of Punjab, he said, was implementing a mega programme worth billions of rupees for the promotion of quality education as well as for providing missing facilities in schools. He furthermore said that construction work was also being carried out quickly on rehabilitation of dilapidated buildings of schools.

CM instructed that the best companies must be selected for the project as well as advanced technology must be utilized in the construction. A direction-finding committee had already been established to monitor execution of the project as well as other issues.

The meeting also discussed the suggestion of construction of smart classrooms in primary and middle schools.
