Islamabad, Around 25 Pakistani bodies and education institutes are in the list of 1,600 contenders all over the world who have applied for prestigious WISE Award, 2013. The conductor of the WISE (World Innovation Summit for Education) Award, Qatar Foundation stresses over the promotion of quality education and innovative ideas.

In this concern a seminar was organized in Islamabad on Wednesday.  It was highlighted that Educationists, teacher’s trainers, teachers and students can avail an opportunity to show their activities in the future WISE Summit 2013 in Doha.

The WISE Award is the most admired worldwide title in the field of education introduced by the Qatar Foundation since 2009 under the support of the Qatar’s First Woman Shiekha Moza bint Nasser.

In 2009, Mushtaq Chappra from Pakistan got the WISE Award in 2010 and $ 20,000. In 2012, innovational education projects from Cambodia, Denmark, USA, India, Chile and Bangladesh were rewarded with the WISE Awards and $20,000 each. Over a span of three years groundbreaking and successful projects have come from many countries including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ghana, India, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, South Africa, Turkey, the UK and the USA.

Other distinguished programs of WISE are WISE Prize, WISE Education Leadership Program, WISE publications, WISE Haiti Task Force, Learning World, WISE Community Platform.

The WISE Summit, 2013, will be organized in Qatar, Doha through October 29-31. Over 100 countries and 1000 global educational stakeholders would take part in around 60 sessions over a pre-designated theme which would be introduced in the near future.

Around 12 postgraduate students of Pakistan have got MEXT (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan) Research Scholarships for the current year 2013. The purpose of awarding these scholarships was to give opening to these students for higher education in their particular areas at universities in Japan.
 
In this regard a ceremony was conducted for these selected students by the Embassy of Japan on Thursday. The ex-student of MEXT Alumni Association of Pakistan (MAAP) told the young awardees about their understanding and experiences.

Toshikazu Isomura, Counsellor, Head of Public Affairs Section, acknowledged the students and said that Pakistan would like to utilize the services and knowledge which they would gain in Japan for the prospect growth of Pakistan.
