In 1951, The University of Karachi (UOK) was established as a Federal University but in 1962, it was redefined as the University of Karachi for Sindh Province. The Karachi University today is the biggest university in the country. It comprises eight faculties with which all the colleges of the city are affiliated. B.S., M.S., M.Phil. and Ph.D. classes under different faculties.
The University of Karachi (UOK) usually announces its annual examination date sheets a month before the exams commencement. University announces its annual examination date sheet for BA/BSc in November and for B.Com annual examinations, date sheets are announced in the month of November while for MA/MSc examinations, University announces date sheets in June.
The University of Karachi is also an affiliating and examining body and at present, 145 colleges and institutions are affiliated to the University. The courses of studies for these institutions are approved by the University and examinations are also conducted under its auspices. Every year thousands of students apply for BA/BSc, B.Com and MA/MSc examination. The University has set itself to offer innovative programs of applied nature that will satisfy the needs of students and employers in relation to the knowledge driven age of technology.
