Youth Entrepreneurship Program to be launched Next Month

Punjab Youth Entrepreneurship Program is announced to be launched next month. Under this program the youth will be given grants and funds for execution of their innovative and creative ideas. Through this program the government aims at providing means for livelihood to youth and their families. This was announced by Punjab minister for youth and sports Muhammad Taimoor Khan on Tuesday.

The provincial minister said that 64% of Pakistan’s populations is comprised of youth and it is certainly omen for potential of progress. He said, ‘It is, however, also a challenge for the government. Fulfillment of our youth’s aspirations is responsibility of the government. It is a huge challenge. We can’t provide government jobs to all youth. Therefore, our focus is on imparting skill development and promoting entrepreneurship. Youth directorate is also being established to launch Punjab youth entrepreneurship program.’

For designing this programs eminent parliamentarians, university students, faculty members, policy makers and members from civil society have gathered together. Representatives of youth presented their demands to the policy makers of youth entrepreneurship program. Suggestions and recommendations have been registered for final drafting of program. Currently, the program is focusing mainly on educated youth whereas uneducated and youth belonging to rural areas have been exempted from the program. The government is searching for the ways to equip the unprivileged youth of Pakistan with employment.

The policy dialogue held on Tuesday was organized by Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) and Indus Consortium under UKAID-funded project “Empowering Youth for Employment and Entrepreneurship”. The stakeholders were invited to discuss the challenges faced by youth today and to find ways to help them cope it.

(UNGA) President Maria Fernanda Espinosa Visits NUST University

United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) President Maria Fernanda Espinosa visited NUST University Islamabad on Monday. The UNGA member commended the efforts made by NUST University for providing peacekeeping training to both local and foreign troops. She said Pakistan has contributed greatly in establishing peacekeeping missions, ‘Pakistan is one of the largest countries to have contributed to bringing peace in areas marred by insecurity and unrest’.

The rector and Lt General Naveed Zaman received the esteemed guests at the NUST campus. The rector of NUST appreciated UNGA member’s visit and in reply to her comment he said, ‘female students and faculty members form a good proportion of overall NUST students and teaching staff, the figure of this proportion is rising with every passing year.’

University of Sargodha Arranges a Lecture on Maritime Affairs

The University of Sargodha arranged a lecture on the topic of ‘Pakistan Maritime Affairs: Potentials and Challenges’ for the faculty members and students on Tuesday. The guest speaker of the event was Station Commander Navy Lahore, Commodore Neimatullah. The commander answered to queries of students and told them the potential of Pakistan’s maritime and the challenges it is facing. The commander said that through effective education and enhancing logic solutions in Pakistan’s maritime field, challenges to control human, drugs and arms smuggling through the sea route and security threats to the Gwadar port can be controlled.
