On Wednesday, University of Karachi, Sichuan Normal University, and Center of Language Education and Cooperation, China signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to begin a mutual split bachelor degree programme on “Chinese International Education”.

According to the press release, for this purpose, an agreement was signed by Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Professor Dr Khalid Mahmood Iraqi and Chinese Director of Confucius Institute Professor Zhang Xiaoping in support of President Sichuan Normal University Professor Dr. Wang Mingyi and CEO of Center of Language Education and Cooperation Professor Dr. Ma Jianfei at the Vice Chancellor Secretariat.

Details About 4-years Split Degree Programme

According to the signed agreement, the aspirant’s will have to complete studies of first two academic years at the CIUK, and then they will be eligible to study the remaining two academic years in SNU China.

On this event, VC of Karachi University, Professor Dr Khalid Iraqi said that CIUK is playing an impressive role in promoting Chinese language and culture, and along with the help of this split degree program we will be able to focus more on the development of students. 

He furthermore added that; we started this project last year in November and make plans to further strengthen the ties between these two institutes. We are also hopeful that our aspirants and faculty members will get maximum benefits from such mutual programs. The Vice Chancellor of University of Karachi also added that international relation is important for the universities and assist in facilitating their faculties as well as students.

Split Degree Programme Approval By Sichuan Normal University China

At the same time, Chinese Director CIUK Professor Zhang Xiaoping informed the audience that Sichuan Normal University China in its recent Board Meeting has approved this joint split degree program. He furthermore added that during this tenure they will also offer scholarships to the students of University of Karachi.

He also added that CIUK has become the largest Confucius Institute in Pakistan. Almost 30 Chinese teachers along with two Pakistani teachers are providing Chinese language and cultural courses to more than 7 thousand students at the UOK and its teaching spots.

The event was also attended by Director Finance Tariq Kaleem, Controller of Examination KU Dr. Syed Zafar Hussain, Students' Advisor Dr Syed Asim Ali, Foreign Students' Advisor Dr Shumaila Shafket Ali as well as Chinese faculty of CIUK.
