UGRAD alumni organized counseling session in Sargoda under U.S Department of state and Implemented by IREX

A program of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural affairs (ECA), U.S Department of state and Implemented by IREX, provide grants to alumni of the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program in Pakistan organize and implement events or activities that are community service oriented and benefit an underserved population in their local community.

It’s was a counseling campaign targeted more than 500 college and university students addressing their academic and career opportunities and get insight with effective career inventories and aptitude tests. It’s an awareness program which focuses more on practical aspect of career along with how to be confident in the pace of world and live properly and take effective distinctions in their careers base on their aptitude, interests, values and skills.

This initiative is about the idea where student are lacking behind proper guidance regarding their future plans. So first through interest and skill inventories, student were being assessed about their hidden potentials, after assessing they were guided about the career opportunities and they were provided with brochure guideline and certificates, gifts, evaluation form, video displaying of awareness tips and open mike discussion session was fruitful. Tanzeela Bashir (Global UGrad Alumna) comes up with 5 volunteers who were expert in using psychological inventories and gives training at bigger platform.She organized a session recently on career councelling Daarearqam college for boys and brught model scjool in Sargodha in the third week of  of January.

Tanzeela said "This campaign will be trend settler for typical mind set people who always choose the career of their children on the basis of what people say. Right direction at this age is very important according to demand and needs and their domain of professional interest and skills.If this project changes the mind of one life, the impact factor would be immense."

Students of Punjab covering huge portion of talent individuals  but they are on great stake as because of their tough schedule they couldn’t get proper guideline about their career and no doubt they are future of Pakistan. Students are lacking behind career counseling. After matriculation, they always followed the footsteps of their parents. If their parents are doctors, so they choose the same field. The criteria for choosing career are totally dependent upon their parents and family members. “Career counseling campaign” has not only helpped them choosing career according to their skills and interests but it has also helped others to think more about demand of time and a proper way to channelize skill and interest of student.

Key points of this initiatives was to focus on the best suitable knowledge regarding their hidden skills and professional interest, to facilitate students with best possible awareness and use of psychological career inventories, to help students to learn more about career opportunities in Pakistan and other countries and make them able to talk about their fear and weakness to overcome.
