LAHORE: University Of Engineering and Technology (UET) and University Of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) held anti-dengue walks on their campuses on Monday.
The UET walk was led by the Vice Chancellor, along with the Convener Anti-Dengue Task force Prof. Dr Nasir Hayyat, Dean Electrical Engineering Prof. Dr. Sohail Aftab Quershi, Dean Architecture Prof. Dr. Ghulam Abbas Anjum, Dean Chemical Prof. Dr. Nadeem Feroze and Prof. Dr. Nelum Naz, Chairpersons of various departments, Dr. Muhammad Ameen, Dr. Tanveer Qasim and senior Faculty Members took a round of National Library of Engineering sciences.
The activities that were performed during the walk was cutting and cleaning of grass in the lawns, fumigation of chemical in the classes, hostels and houses in the colony, drying of stagnant water from various places and removal of junk material, tyres and others from colony houses.
Students, teachers and employees took part in the walk. Pamphlets were distributed to those who took part in the walk.
On this occasion the Dean of UET, Fazal Ahmad Khalid, said that as a nation we must keep our surroundings and environment clean. He further said that all-out steps should be taken in order to eliminate dengue virus. He mentioned that anti-dengue task force was giving its best to eliminate the virus and educate people in this regard.
The UVAS also arranged several activities to generate consciousness of the threat of dengue. The dengue monitoring committee of the UVAS inspected the campus and residential zones for mosquito larvae.
