The Sindh High Court has directed the Pakistan Medical Commission, PMC to make sure that the results of both of the MDCAT tests will be announced at the same time. This year two MDCAT tests are arranged to conduct by PMC. In the first test, the normal candidates appeared for the exam that was conducted on November 29th, 2020. However, a special MDCAT is also arranged that would be conducted on December 13th, 2020. The special MDCAT test is for the candidates who tested positive for the Covid-19. However, it is advised by the Sindh High Court that the result for both of the tests will be announced at the same time and a single merit list will be published.

Petition Against The PMC Decision

The petition was submitted by the Petitioners Syed Ahmad Maaz and others which is revealing that the official announcement or the decision of the PMC to conduct two separate MDCAT tests is a violation of the law. The lawyer has submitted that the decision of taking two separate tests is a violation of the PMC act under which only one test could be held. The lawyer has also submitted that the test of all the participants could be held at two different venues on the same date.

Reasons For Conducting Double MDCAT

On behalf of the PMC, Zeeshan Abdullah the Counsel of PMC had submitted a statement that In order to facilitate the candidates infected with the Covid-19, at the same time, to contain the spread of the Covid-19 the decision of taking separate or double MDCAT was taken by PMC. The supporting documents concerning the PMCs’ decision by the Counsel have also been submitted. However, the Sindh High Court has revealed a suggestion, headed by Justice Nadeem Akhtar, to conduct the separate or double entrance exams for Medical and Dental Colleges and Universities admission was not opposing to any of the provisions of the Act by PMC or any other law.

When The Result Will Be Announced

At first, it was decided that the MDCAT result would be published within 10 days before conducting the test. However, the new decision to declare results at the same time with a single merit list may bring changes in the result announcement. So, the result date will be announced by the authority soon and candidates will be provided all the latest notifications regarding result announcement on time.
