The Project of Establishing “Pakistan University of Media Sciences” Finalized

As it has been shared earlier by Federal Minster of Broadcasting Mr fawad Chaudhary of PTI government’s plan to establish a separate media University in Pakistan, now he has took on social media app today to inform that the plan has been entered into phase of implementation. He tweeted, ‘Alhamdulillah Pak University of media sciences project is ready in first 100 days of PTI Govt, this ll be our biggest contribution to Pak media industry.’

The aim of establishing an international standard media University was to provide Pakistani students with modernized and advanced media techniques that are globally adopted. The Federal Minister of Broadcasting has also announced the governmental plan of dissolving Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) and substituting it with a new department called Pakistan Media Regulatory Authority. These reformations are part of PTI Government’s first 100 days plan.

The Pakistan University of Media Sciences will have media studies, journalism and mass communication courses. Media studies is consisted of television, radio, digital media, computer games, social media, writing, publishing, video making, photography, production, PR and several other media practices. Media has a vital role in reformation or exploitation of culture and society of any nation. The studies related to media are as important as any other academic field.

The media industry has developed gradually in Pakistan. Over a decade ago, there used to be only two or three Pakistani channels. A revolution started and resulted in introduction of tons of news, drama and entertainment channels which gave employment opportunities to millions. Before that, there was not much awareness regarding media studies; the education related to mass communication and journalism got prominence and so did Government’s notice.

The field of media is extensively developed all around the world. The phenomenon of social media has become a major constituent of media as well. The significance it has in lives of people cannot be put secondary now. Its usage, however, needs to be educated and monitored. Teaching an outright media education to youth and media personals is extremely important because this platform is judicious of a nation’s culture and politics. Through establishment of Pakistan University of Media Sciences, the government will be equipping media students with objectified and productive media study programmes that will become source of reformation.

From career and jobs point of view, the establishment of University will offer so many new opportunities to people of Pakistan. The film industry of Pakistan particularly needs a revolutionary uplift through investments and participation of learned media professionals. The reformation educated and professional media persons can bring to diminishing film industry of Pakistan, will never be done in any other way. Giving revitalization to film and media industry can also become source od stabilizing Pakistan’s economy in big way.

The neighboring countries of Pakistan specifically to be mentioned India; India has a well developed media industry which has a large and deep impact on our youth and public of all ages. Boosting film industry of Pakistan will marginalize the impact of Indian film industry on us and our nation can regain our own culture instead of following theirs.
