The DGISPR held a thorough talking session with faculty members and students of Warwick University, including Pakistani students. He explained the geo-strategic position of Pakistan and its role and importance for the future global economy. Professor Chrstine Ennew, Provost of the Warwick University, other faculty members and well-known Pakistani educationist Syed Abidi were attendants of the talking session on Tuesday, held at Warwick University, England.

He emphasized on Pakistan’s positive role in the region and about its Geo-Economic importance, He said, “The future of the region and the globe is not without Pakistan, we have a potentially rich economy, we are bestowed with great resources, and majority of today’s Pakistani of our population is youth.”

Pakistan has also been a victim of terrorism, majority of its youth, especially those belonging to tribal areas have been radicalized by terrorists, he explained. He said that Pakistan Army has done so much work for the eradication of this radicalization by adopting soft and prolonged strategy of development initiatives and youth employment.

He said, “There is still much to be done in this regard. This is the real success. If youth of Pakistan especially from the neglected and conflict ridden areas have the similar education opportunities as the privileged youth sitting here in the university, only then real peace and stability would come to Pakistan.” He also gave reference of Malala Yousafzai.

The DGSPIR said that Pakistani youth has massive talent and capabilities. Pakistani doctors and engineers are regarded as skilled are potent of possessing high ranks in international platform. Talking to the Pakistani students at Warwick University, He Said, ‘the state needs to provide you better opportunity to secure your future as well while you serve the country. Let me assure you the state is working on this to enable you the environment that serves both you and the country.”

The talking sessions and guest lecturers from officials possessing high ranks prove to be a lift up in confidence of students. Such lectures clear the dogmatic views held by students regarding a certain country and enable a broader yet true image of it. A country like Pakistan is often seen as a terrorist state by majority of students in western countries. This perception must not be taken for granted rather it should be met with great importance. By presenting the true image of Pakistan and its role and efforts in war against terrorism should be elaborated in Universities and Colleges, like this talking session by DGSPIR.

A large number of Pakistani students attend various courses in UK Universities. UK government is funding many scholarships programmes for Pakistani students such as:

  1. Chevening Scholarships
  2. Commonwealth Masters Scholarships
  3. Rhodes Scholarships at University of Oxford
  4. Edinburgh Global Research Scholarships
  5. Denys Holland Scholarship at University College London
  6. University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarships
