Lahore: Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (Tevta) trained over 1, 500 unemployed youths in industrial stitching machine operator course.

Four thousand young people would be trained during next year and free short courses of six months duration have successfully been launched in Tevta Institutes at Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Dera Ghazi Khan on the need of garment industry to provide them along with the trained manpower.

This statement was given by the chairperson of TEVTA Irfan Qaiser Sheikh while addressing a meeting on Monday at Tevta secretariat to review the progress of this course.

Chief Operating Officer Jawad Ahmed Qureshi, Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Aamer Aziz, Azhar Iqbal Shad, Umer Farooq, Mustafa Kamal Pasha, Muhammad Maqsood, Aisha Qazi, Uzma Nadia, Sarfraz Anwar were also present in the meeting.

Irfan Qaiser Sheikh said Tevta in association along with Nishat Apparel has established Govt Apparel Manufacturing Training Institute (GAMTI) in 2012 at Gujjumatta Ferozepur Road.

Now, over 1500 trainees of this institute have been given employment in garment industry.

All trainees have successfully got jobs.
