Standard education planned in Sindh by Chief Minister

KARACHI, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday asked the Planning and Development Department to include more education schemes in the next Annual Development Programme (ADP) so that more facilities of quality education could be provided to the people of backwards areas.

Addressing a high-level meeting, held at the CM’s House to review proposals forwarded by elected representatives

for the coming budget, he said that providing modern education facilities to the people of Sindh was among the top priorities of his government.

He said that at present, modern education facilities were available only in Karachi and people of other areas lacked financial means to come over here to avail these facilities. He said the government, therefore, was planning to set up modern educational institutions in other cities and towns of the province so that standard education could be provided to people at their doorstep.

Dr Arbab told the Planning and Development Department to include the scheme of setting up a cadet college at Naukot in Mirpurkhas district in the next ADP and submit to him a report in this regard.

He said that after setting up the college, students of backwards areas like Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas and Badin districts would be greatly benefited.

Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Ghulam Sarwar Khero and other senior officials attended the meeting.
