Sindh Government Decides To Make Sindh Medical And Dental Council

The Sindh Provincial Health Minister, Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho announces that the Sindh government has decided to establish its own Sindh Medical And Dental Council, SMDC. The decision has been revealed during a press conference held at the Sindh secretariat on Wednesday.

What Is A Need To Establish SMDC

Dr. Azra reveals that the province is facing a number of problems under the supervisions of Pakistan Medical and Dental Council, PMDC and Pakistan Medical Council, PMC. While criticizing to Federal Government Dr. Azra said that every single province needs to have its own provincial medical and dental council but the Federal government is not taking any notice of the provincial applications. She added that due to the dissolution of the Pakistan Medical And Dental Council the doctors as well as the medical students in the country are getting disrupted in numerous ways. It has also revealed during the conference that the province needs to regulate and standardize the medical studies at the provincial level and this is the reason that the provincial government is proposing such a decision.

Final Decision To Establish SMDC

However, while talking to media, the Sindh provincial health minister Dr. Azra has also revealed that a bill for the approval to set up the separate medical council for Sindh province will be presented in the assembly shortly. Currently, the strategies are discussing at the provincial level that how to send the bill of approval and what are the requirements the province needs to accomplish by having its separate medical and dental council.
