Schools with bad results in 5th, 8th exams to face strict action

Islamabad: Federal government has decided to take the strict action against teachers as well as the school principals for showing bad results in the recently held annual exams of class 5^th and 8^th.

In a letter, the Capital Administration and the Development Division (CADD) on Friday notified the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) that the minister of state Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry had reviewed the poor result and showed the serious concerns over the low Grade Point Average (GPA) attained by the aspirants of some institutes in centralized annual examination of 5^th and 8^th.

The minister instructed FDE to take the serious action against the principal of the educational institutions and concerned teachers for showing less than 2.5 GPA. The letter also stated that poor performance be reflected in the annual confidential reports (ACRs) of the concerned heads and teachers.

The minister moreover said that the appreciation letters must be issued to the heads of schools and the teachers whose aspirants showed exceptional marks.

The letter also added “A report of action taken in this respect must be submitted to the minister within one month”.

It may also be mentioned that every year the FDE holds the centralized exams of class 5^th and 8^th and also provides the scholarships to the position holders. In the recent annual exams, 24,248 aspirants appeared in the exam of whom 18,865 were declared pass and 31, 41 promoted to the new class.

While talking to media, controller of examinations FDE Imran Baig said that 300 toppers of 5^th class and 200 of 8^th class will be given monthly grants.

As per the sources few months ago CADD makes a decision to increase the scholarship worth from Rs200 for class 5^th and Rs300 for class 8^th to Rs500 each student of both the classes. Though, up till now the case has not been approved by the concerned authorities.

An official of FDE said “The file is placed somewhere in CADD. We don’t know when it would be approved. However, in case of further delay, we would be unable to look out the increased amount in the imminent budget”.

Annually, the brilliant aspirants who win the scholarships have to wait for the months to get the amount.

“Last year, because of the absence of the coordination between the FDE and the AGPR, our apsirants suffered a lot however let me assure you this year there would be no delay and we will distribute the scholarship worth on time”, he added.
