School Education Department Extends Summer Vacation Till July 15th

On Monday, School Education Department has issued a notification to extend the summer vacations. This issued notification will apply to both private and government schools. Earlier, the School Education Department announced summer vacations from April 1st to June 30th, 2020.

Keeping in view the current situation of Corona Virus, the department has also issued a notification extending the vacations till July 15th, 2020.

Decision Regarding Reopening of Schools

It is also important to mention here that Punjab Education Minister Murad Rass had clarified that the any decision regarding the reopening of educational institutes across the province has not been taken yet and it will be taken on August 15th, 2020 on the basis of situation.

While talking to a private news channel, Dr. Murad Raas stated that the guidelines are being drawn up about the schools in Punjab. We will not open all classes at once.

Precautionary Measures To Be Taken after Reopening of Schools

He furthermore said that we have to take the decision to open the schools wisely. No child will enter school without wearing mask. He also added that; it is very easy to open the educational institutes, but God willing, if a child dies, then people will not leave.

While answering another question, the Education Minister said that the number of cases in Lahore was decreasing because of the lockdown last week. If the number of cases increases then it would be difficult to decide. The Children will not be permitted to gather during school lunch breaks.

Dr. Murad Raas said that we are considering different options. We cannot allow accommodating 50 children in a class. We will convert the classes into 2 shifts and there will be only 20 to 25 children in a class. Classes that will be required first will be opened first.
