Lahore, Department of Sports for Women University of the Punjab Lahore organized a ceremony to inaugurate two vehicles. In this ceremony, students were also awarding scholarship for outstanding women sports player, who won All Pakistan Inter-Universities Championships. University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran was the chief guest of the ceremony while on this occasion, Director Sports Prof Dr Zafar Rashid, Additional Director Sports (W) Mrs Shamsa Hashmi, Additional Director Sports Attia Nawaz, Resident Auditor Naeem Iqbal Qureshi, women players of Postgraduate College Wahdat Road, Govt Home Economics College Gulberg and Fatima Jinnah Degree College wre also with the university Vive-Chancellor.
On this occasion, University VC Dr Mujahid Kamran said that “it was the responsibility of academic institutes to promote extra-curricular capabilities of students, but unfortunately, he said there was grip of political culture in the Punjab University which now had been removed”. Shamsa Hashmi also addressed and said scholarship for sports players had been raised from Rs 4,80,000/- to Rs 1.6 million. In this ceremony, 52 students were being awarded with scholarships from Rs 3000 to Rs 8000.
