SAC Demands the Restoration of Student Union Along with some other Demands Through March.

Over 50 cities Students are gathered for March in Lahore under the management of SAC (Student Action Committee) on Friday. Students will start this March from Naseer Bagh at 2 pm and will end it in front of Punjab Assembly in Charing Cross. This March idea was formed on 5 November when the Progressive Student Collective (PSC) and other organizations from all over the country formed an alliance and want to put their demand forward on the national level. March from SAC represents students from Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit, KPK, Azad Kashmir and Punjab. 

Demands of SAC

The Basic demands of SAC are all relevant to Students' betterment and improving standards of higher education in Pakistan. Here are the following major demands that SAC wants the government to fulfill.

1. Restoration of Student Union in all institutes so it can represent student interest in the campus.
2. Increase the budget of Higher education Quota by HEC.
3. Forming of sexual Harassment Committee on Each Campus of Pakistan.
4. Ending all kinds of discrimination based on gender, religion, and ethnicity in the educational sector.

These are the highlighted demands of SAC that they want from the PTI government. According to SAC decreasing the higher education Quota was a Bad Idea of the current government because it puts Pakistan in the list of those countries which have the lowest budget for their higher education.

How SAC is Trying to Achieve Their Goal?

SAC is conducting corner meetings with Pakistan private education sector to put pressure on the Government so they meet all their demands. According to SAC the campuses of Punjab and Baluchistan are becoming unwelcoming to each other and they need an urgent sexual Harassment Committee in Baluchistan as well. To achieve all these goals they want to improve the infrastructure of the education sector in all Province especially in areas like Fata and Gilgit.

SAC barrier officer also has written a letter to the chancellor in whom he stated students from 50 cities will march to fulfill their demands and stated all the issues given above as well. Students also want the chancellor to join them during March.
