Rs 1b funds for Daanish schools: CM Punjab

Lahore, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that billions of rupees have been paid out on such educational institutions as grammar, Aitcheson and cadet colleges, during the last 64 years.

He said it was for the first time in the history that the government of PML-N had set openings of quality education to the children of the exploited by starting Daanish Schools in backward areas.

He said that as many as six Daanish Schools were offering academic facilities to students of South Punjab while Daanish School at Mianwali was near finishing point and Daanish Schools were also being quickly constructed in other less-developed areas. He said that during the current financial year, construction of Daanish Schools in the districts of Mailsi, Bhakkar, Lodhran and Layyah would also start.

Shahbaz was presiding over a meeting of the Daanish School Authority in his camp office at Minar-e-Pakistan on Monday.
He said the Punjab Education Endowment Fund had been start to meet the academic requirements of the students and as many as 35,000 students were being extended scholarships from the fund.

He said six Daanish Schools were functioning in Hasilpur, Rahimyar Khan and Chishtian while classes had started at Daanish School at Mianwali while work is continued speedily on the Daanish Schools at Dera Gazi Khan, Rajanpura and Attock.

He issued orders for the delivery of Rs 1 billion for the Endowment Fund for Daanish Schools; the chief minister said actions should also be taken to increase the fund. He further said that Daanish Schools should only be constructed at places where drinking water is easily available.

The chief minister said children of the poor were being provided free education, boarding and lodging as well as facilities of extra-curricular activities in Daanish Schools. He said green environment had been delivered in the schools with beautiful trees to give a natural atmosphere to the younger generation.

The CM observed the best teachers had been hired for Daanish Schools to teach quality education to students. He focused that essay competitions among the children of Daanish Schools and other institutions should be arranged.

Shahbaz Sharif said that centers of excellence were being established in several districts for providing quality education to the students. The participants of the meeting presented several recommendations and proposals to the CM regarding the Daanish Schools project.

Managing Director Daanish School Authority Yousaf Kamal praised the CM for steps taken towards the implementation of Daanish School Project.
