Supreme Court forms Committee to probe Facilities in Punjab Private Universities

Because of many problems in private educational institutes coming in to notice of Pakistani courts, Supreme Court has started to resolvedly make serious efforts to play its part for eradication of these problems. Regarding this Supreme Court has formed a committee to find out definitely, whether the private universities in Punjab have sufficient facilities or not. Under the supervision of two judge-bench headed by CJP Saqib Nisar , legal expert Zafar Iqbal and Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) director Waqas Abbassi will hold an inquiry about the availability of facilities in private universities including University of Lahore.

Chief Justice of Punjab takes Suo moto Notice on Private Universities across Punjab

 Chief justice of Punjab Mian Nisar took Suo Moto notice of private universities of Punjab on Saturday (29/9/18). The action of notice took place prior to a petition registered about a student who was not being provided with his degree from an affiliate college of University of South Asia. The petition was being preceded by a bench of three-members headed by CJP. During the hearing, a member of Higher Education Commission (HEC) brought into knowledge of the bench that the affiliations with colleges made by University of South Asia were without consent. Later the bench ordered the Punjab advocate general to submit a report after gathering all the details about the private universities and affiliated colleges. During the hearing CJP talked to HEC representative about his concerns about the current education system of Pakistan and role of private universities in ruining the standards of educational institutes.

Saudi Fund Grants $16 million for university and hospitals.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have signed a three grants in-aid pact of worth $16 million to develop and furnish university and hospitals with funds financed by Riyadh. The finance of aid will be used to furnish the campus of the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, facilitate the King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Teaching Hospital (KATH) with medical equipment and furniture, and be gift the Hayaserai Hospital in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with medical equipment and furniture.

GCU now ranks at #6 among the top nine universities of Pakistan

The Government College University (GCU) has improved its position by getting at number #6  in the list of top 9 universities of Pakistan that have marked their position in to Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2019. GCU was standing in number #9, while 10 Pakistani universities made it to this prestigious list last year. According to the official announcement made by the Times Higher Education on Thursday, this year, only nine universities of Pakistan were able to mark their position in to the World Universities Ranking 2018-2019 including:-

~Comsats Institute of Information Technology

~University of Agriculture,

~National University of Sciences & Technology,

~ Bahauddin Zakariya University,

~ University of Engineering & Technology,

~GCU, University of Lahore,

~Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University
