The son of Allama Muhammad Iqbal Justice Dr. Javed Iqbal lauded the role of (AIOU) in projecting the universal message of the great Muslim poet Allama Muhammad Iqbal through its academic recreation and hoped that the university will carry on its efforts to instill positive and advanced thoughts in the new generation.

While speaking the Iqbal Day function here on Thursday, he said the AIOU should attention more on the country’s youth for their proper breeding in line with Allama Iqbal’s ideas, point of views & thoughts.

He renowned that the AIOU is the only university in the country having ‘Iqbal Chair’. Similar ‘chairs’, he highlighted, should be established at home and out of the country, specifically in Muslim countries, to understand and promote Iqbal’s philosophy for having a reputable place in the comity of the nations.

He was of the understanding that education should be a national subject, and edifying effort should be done through centralized and combined system. It should not be a provincial subject, he added. Rising the vision of AIOU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Shahid Siddiqui for the improvement of the university, he hoped it would bring optimistic results in research culture, review of textbooks, professional development and make or become stronger students’ support system.

Those who speak to the function included Muneeb Iqbal, son of Dr. Javed Iqbal, Dr. Feroz, chairman of the Pakistan Academy of letters, Sheraz Latif, chairman of the Rebaat-e-Iqbal, and the Chairman of the Department of Iqbaliyat, AIOU Professor Dr. Shahid Iqbal Kamran.  More than 400 duplicates of ‘Kulyat-e-Iqbal' were distributed among contestants on the event.
