The Punjab government has waived the board registration and examination fee for the aspirants registered in secondary schools associating along with the Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) in 9th and in the 10th class.

A representative of Punjab education Foundation has said that Higher Education Department had issued a departmental notification in this respect, adding the step will advantage the 1.9 million needy aspirants of PEF partner schools who mostly belonged to the low salary families.

This decision has been taken on the summary moved by the chairperson of Punjab Education Foundation Engr Qamar-ul-Islam Raja to Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for covering this facility to the foundation also as it was involved in offering the free education to the children of most disfranchised segments of society. After the endorsement of the Chief Minister, formal notification has been delivered.

Presently, Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) will deliver the lists of its secondary level aspirants to the boards concerned of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISEs) in Punjab who would offer the free registration facility and pardoning the aspirants from the examination fee. Qamar-ul-Islam welcoming the decision termed it ‘education–friendly’ inventiveness of the Punjab government saying it will directly subsidy the penurious strata.
