The Punjab curriculum and textbook board has announced the implementation plan of the single national curriculum. According to the notification issued the PCTB would adopt the SNC across Punjab from grade 1 to grade 5 from the new academic session that will be started in August 2021. The model textbooks have been developed as per the approved syllabus by the concerned committee. The single national curriculum will be implemented in all the educational institutes of the public as well as private sector and seminaries in the province of Punjab.

The authorities have stated that the single national curriculum has been devised according to the international standards so that the students can complete at the national and international levels. As per the 18th constitutional amendment, education became a provincial matter so the government of all the provinces will develop the textbooks according to the standardized curriculum. Earlier the Sindh education minister, Saeed Ghani had opposed the decision of the federal government to implement the SNC. But the government of Pakistan, ministry of education & professional training has issued the directives regarding the national curriculum approved by the provincial cabinet of Punjab in its 39th meeting. 

Statement of Murad Rass

The Punjab education minister, Murad Raas said that this step has been taken to have one system of education for all the students across the country. In this regard, he has appreciated the efforts of the government of Pakistan, the school education department, and the Punjab curriculum and textbook board. Through this way, the students of all the educational institutes will be offered equal opportunities to excel in their careers. Moreover, the uniform medium of the instructions and common assessment platform will be ensured to receive a high quality of education through transparency and fairness.
