Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) chairpeprson, Lt Gen (R) Sajjad Akram claim that, PPSC has enough ability to replace NTS in Punjab, as PPSC has all the needed expertise and resources.

While talking to media; he said, Punjab Public Service commission (PPSC) has more extensive network in Punjab with the experience of almost 80 years to hold reliable, transparent and unbiased tests along with accomplishing its tasks of facilitating the recruitment.

Replying to a question, the chairman said that Punjab Public Service Commission will develop its own question data-bank before December 2016 as it had the OMR technology to point the MCQs on its own.

Moreover he said, he had approached the vice chancellors of all government universities to suggest the advisers as well as subject specialists to assist the authority in the development of data-bank.

While replying to another question, Lt Gen (R) Sajjad Akram, said, PPSC has also ability to manage the promotions from 20th scale and onwards in the provincial squad, adding that PPSC was authorized to hold the 20th scale and promotions under the Act of 1935; however, the authorizations were transferred to the Chief Secretary in the beginning of 1970.

During his conversation, he also said that; PPSC should be granted the status of Federal Public Service Commission as it will improve the transparency and un-biasness of the exam system. He added that Federal Public Service Commission had certified for a system which was free, fair, merit-based as well as prompt to promote brilliance, superiority and the proficiency with the help of accurate selection.

About the immediate discarding of all requests, Chairperson of Punjab Public Service Commission has said that the time-span had been reduced to just 91 days from 280 days under his supervision.

He said that in order to certify more transparency, a snap of applicant had been made compulsory on the answer sheet under PPSC, whereas the use of technology was symbol of actions.

All the correspondence along with applicants was confirmed through SMS, email and the official website which had minimized the blunder.

He also told that he was working on the latest Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) to make system more effective, transparent and unbiased for the crowds.

To a question, he said the PPSC was also focused on the capacity-building of the staff, adding that Management and Professional Development Department (MPDD) training was essential for promotion to the next grade in the PPSC.

While sharing the issues faced by PPSC, he requested the government to permit some part of fee collection to the commission so that spontaneous expenditures could be met instantly.

In the end, Chairman of PPSC also acknowledged the government for its support through extending outreach and by constructing the new examination halls and by establishing the new regional centres for the applicants.
