PMDC stops admission to medical college for academic session 2016-17

Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) yesterday, has stopped the privately-owned medical and dental college as well as universities from giving admission to the aspirants for the academic session 2016 – 2017 for being disparagingly deficient in faculty as well as the other facilities.

The President of Pakistan Medical and Dental council Professor Dr. Shabbir Lehri together with the Executive Committee Member Dr. Farrukh Eijaz hold a surprise visit to the Yusra Medical and Dental College and inspected the facilities that are being provided to the aspirants as well as the check the standards of education.  Presenting displeasure over the deficiencies, the president of PMDC instructed to stop admissions of the college for the academic session 2016 -17.

At that time the president of PMDC said that a lot of complaints were received about the deficiencies in faculty, academic as well as the financial matters of Yusra Medical & Dental College, Islamabad. He said that “to address these complaints I decided to personally visit the college to have a look on these matters”.

He moreover said that the standard of the college was not up to the smudge according to the minimum criteria of the council plus for the training of 100 MBBS students.

He said that the management of the college is divided into three groups, which are severely damaging the institute.

He moreover said that the college had a rented 150 bedded hospital rather than its own which is obviously the violation of PMDC rules. The hospital even does not have the Eye as well as the ENT departments and the Gynaecology department. The bed tenancy rate was also very bad.

The president ordered for the investigation against Yusra Medical & Dental College about their financial, academic and administrative or the managerial issues, after that PM&DC will clamp a comprehensive inspection of the college to watch out the refinement of the deficiencies.

He said that the council will make the surprise inspections to check out the standards of all the colleges which are already recognised by the PMDC and the institute’s which are going to be recognised.

He added that "These steps are being taken in order to maintain the standard of the medical as well as the dental colleges plus the standards shall not be compromised under any conditions".
