PEC Announces 27th Professional Engineer (EPE) Exam Schedule for Fall 2026 Across Pakistan

The Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) has officially announced the comprehensive schedule for the upcoming 27th Engineering Practice Examination (EPE) Fall 2026 . Designed for Registered Engineers (RE) aspiring to attain the prestigious title of Professional Engineer (PE) , this standardized national assessment serves as the ultimate benchmark of technical competency, professional ethics, and engineering excellence in Pakistan.

According to the official directive released by the Pakistan Engineering Council , the PEC EPE Fall 2026 will be conducted as a modernized, computer-based test on Sunday, November 8, 2026 . This shift to a digital testing environment ensures maximum transparency, efficiency, and real-time accuracy in the assessment process.

Understanding the Value of the Professional Engineer (PE) Title

Transitioning from a Registered Engineer (RE) to a Professional Engineer (PE) is a major milestone in any Pakistani engineer’s career path. While the standard registration allows graduates to practice under supervision, the Professional Engineer PE registration grants sovereign professional privileges.

Under the provisions of the PEC Act 1976, a certified Professional Engineer possesses:

  • Technical Sanction Authority: The legal right to approve and sign off on engineering designs, projects, and process certifications.

  • Career Progression: Direct preference for high-level technical, administrative, and governmental engineering roles.

  • Global Mobility: Enhanced recognition on international platforms, aligning directly with the Washington Accord and the International Professional Engineers Agreement (IPEA) frameworks.

Eligibility Criteria for the PEC EPE Fall 2026 Exam

The Pakistan Engineering Council EPE Exam is not an entry-level test. Candidates must meet rigid professional and academic requirements to sit for the assessment.

To apply for the 27th Engineering Practice Examination (EPE) Fall 2026 , candidates must fulfill the following mandatory criteria:

  • Experience Tally: A minimum of five (5) years of verifiable practical experience in the relevant engineering sector, calculated from the date of registration with PEC up to the application deadline.

  • CPD Points Requirement: Candidates must have accumulated at least 17 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points since July 10, 2010

  • Graduation Date: Applicants must have graduated from a PEC-accredited engineering program on or after January 15, 2008.

PEC EPE Exam Format & Structure

The EPE exam syllabus is split into two independent parts, both of which are conducted on the same day. Candidates must pass each section independently with a minimum score of 60% .

1.Reporting at the Center: 09:00 AM.

Candidates must arrive at their designated examination hall at least one hour prior to the start of the test. No entry is allowed after the exam commences.

2.Part-I (Common/Breadth Paper): 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM (2 Hours).

A closed-book, 2-hour computer-based exam covering topics common to all engineering disciplines. This includes management, engineering ethics, environmental standards, and communication skills.

3.Mid-Day Recess: 12:00 PM - 01:30 PM (90 Minutes).

A designated ninety-minute break is provided between the sessions for rest, prayer, and basic preparation.

4.Part-II (Discipline-Specific Paper): 01:30 PM - 04:30 PM (3 Hours).

An open-book, 3-hour exam based strictly on the candidate's chosen engineering discipline (e.g., Civil, Electrical, Mechanical). Standard textbooks and bound materials are permitted; loose sheets are strictly forbidden.

How to Apply Online for PEC EPE Fall 2026

The Pakistan Engineering Council has integrated a seamless, "Smart PEC" online process to handle applications digitally. Candidates are advised to prepare their documentation beforehand to avoid last-minute portal lag.

  1. Register/Log In: Visit the official PEC CPD portal.

  2. Verify CPD Profile: Access the CPD points calculator to ensure your profile meets the 17-point threshold.

  3. Generate Fee Voucher: Download the system-generated Bank Alfalah voucher. Please note that payments made through manual challans or third-party transfers will not be processed.

  4. Submit Documents: Upload your updated CV, experience certificates, proof of fee payment, and passport-sized photographs.

  5. Center Selection: Select your preferred test center. PEC typically establishes physical test centers across major hubs, including Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan, and Gilgit.

Retake Policy for Candidates

If a candidate has previously attempted the EPE but failed to qualify in one of the two parts, they do not need to retake the entire examination. Under PEC rules, a candidate can reappear solely in the "Not Qualified" part for up to three consecutive EPE cycles . If they fail to clear the remaining part within this window, they must re-register and clear both parts from scratch.

Candidates can access comprehensive preparation guides, sample MCQs, and past papers directly through the CPD link on the official PEC website to aid their preparation.
