Karachi: More than 1100 graduates were awarded degrees at 19th convocation of the Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) organized at the Expo Centre.

Female candidates secured the top 3 positions. The top three positioned female graduates Sadia Ghani Mali, Nimra Khan and Mahrose Fatima were awarded gold, silver and bronze medals in computer engineering; Gul-e-Zahra, Amber Jabeen and Farheen Nasir were awarded medals in electrical engineering.

Fiza Burney and Sida Gul were awarded with gold and bronze medals in telecommunication engineering.

The chairperson of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Mukhtar Ahmed was the chief guest of ceremony. While addressing the graduates he said, “The youth of Pakistan is the guardian of our culture and traditions that our nation always rejoices. Presently, our country is getting through a critical stage and now it is your responsibility to develop this country and carry nation forward into the modern age of development and prosperity.”

He also told the graduates that they have obtained education in an institute, which was established in the name of heroic educationist and reformer Sir Syed Ahmed Khan.

Though, there are almost 178 universities in Pakistan, but, still a lot has still to be done in educational zone, especially for female candidates, he added.

He also said, “it is our, your, and also the society’s responsibility to play their complete role both in the government and private zones”.

While appreciating the role of SSUET, he asked the faculty members of varsity to pay full attention on their students and prepare them for their future responsibilities.

He mainly admired the girls and boys who won medals for their brilliant performance. HEC chairperson told them that they are future of nation and they must have a clear vision regarding future.

“You have to give your best and this would definitely bring Pakistan on sound footing”, he added.

He moreover advised the graduates that when they go home they must acknowledge the sacrifices of their parents who supported them to reach at this level and must be thanked to their teachers because of whom they were here today.

The Chancellor of SSUET also addressed the ceremony and said “Our country is facing lots of challenges and our graduates have to prepare themselves to meet these challenges in any condition.”
