No quality education without good teachers: PU VC

The vice chancellor of Punjab University Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the education standard cannot be improved without good teachers.

He said that we will have to work at school level to enhance the level of education in Pakistan.

He has given this statement while addressing a seminar on “Emerging Quality Issues in Higher Education in Pakistan”, in association along with celebrations of “World Quality Day” at Al-Raazi Hall on Tuesday.

This seminar was arranged by PU Quality Enhancement Cell and Virtual University Lahore. Principal of Virtual University Prof Dr Navid A. Malik, Director QEC Dr Amir Ijaz, Prof Dr Ali Sajid, Prof Dr Muhammad Nawaz, deans, faculty members, QEC heads of different varsities as well as large number of aspirants were present.

The Vice Chancellor of Punjab University Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that a teacher had to teach his subject and train his students. He said that a teacher must urge his aspirants to think regarding things out of box.

Vice Chancellor also added that his teacher and well known physicist Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem used to give summary of earlier lecture before starting his lecture and e always used to review his lecture at the end of each lecture.

The government must spend maximum money on higher education, he added. The VC said that the earlier government cut down the budget of higher education however the PML-N government improved the budget of higher education which was an admirable step.

While addressing the seminar, Dr Naveed A Malik said that we were at the first stage of enhancing the quality of education and we have to achieve maturity level yet.

At the end, Prof Dr Ali Sajid gave a detailed presentation about the challenges faced by higher education zone in the country. Dr Amir Ejaz emphasized on the importance of world quality day and steps taken by the binding administration to enhance the quality of education on the campus.
