NGO to set up girls’ schools in Dir

PESHAWAR: Under the memorandum of understanding signed Wednesday between a non-governmental organisation, Khwendo Kor and department of schools and literacy, the Khwendo Kor would set up three girls middle schools and 15 community primary schools in Dir Lower aimed at promoting literacy rate in girls students.

Executive district officer of schools and literacy department, Zarawar Khan signed on behalf of his department while director programme of Khwendo Kor, Aneela Qamar represented the NGO.

Other officials of schools and literacy department and staff members of Khwendo Kor were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, Aneela Qamar said the Khwendo Kor has been actively working for welfare and development of women and children in Dir region.

She said efforts made by the Khwendo Kor had greatly helped alleviating poverty and promoting literacy in the region.
EDO Zarawar Khan informed participants of the ceremony about lack of education facilities for girls in the under-developed Dir district.

He said the district for promoting literacy ratio in Dir would need 400 more girls’ schools. He said Khwendo Kor would enjoy full support from his department in implementation of crucial project. Zarawar hoped the project would help removing illiteracy from Dir.

Stressing on female education, he felt they would not become a prosperous nation until and unless they provide equal education facilities to both male and female.
