National Command And Operation Centre Announces To Reopen The Educational Institutes
The meeting of the national command and operation Centre was held on 19th May 2021 to review the decision regarding the closure of the educational institutes and the resumption of the various other activities. The NCOC meeting was chaired by the Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives, Asad Umer. After the meeting, it has been announced that the educational institutes in the areas will less than 5% coronavirus positivity ratio will be reopened from 24th May 2021 and all the schools, colleges, and universities across the country will resume their academic activities from 7th June 2021 in a staggered manner. The decision has been made by considering the situation of the coronavirus pandemic as the educational institutes remain closed for an extended time period. Besides this various other decisions have also been taken such as the tourism sector will be reopened from 24th May 2021 with the strict implementation of SOPs.
Matric and Intermediate Exams
In the meeting, it has also been decided that the annual exams of matric and intermediate will be conducted after 20th June 2021. It is pertinent to mention here that the professional and the nonprofessional exams will be commenced as per the recommendations of the ministry of education. Earlier the federal minister had announced to postpone all the exams across the country due to the third wave of coronavirus pandemic.
Extension In Closure Of Schools
The Pakistan Alliance of Private Schools has demanded the immediate reopening of the educational institutes. The members of the alliance have said that many businesses have been opened so the government should also allow the reopening of the educational institutes with the proper SOPs. It has been furthermore added that the extension in the closure of the schools will result in a huge loss for the students and in the case of extension of closure beyond 23rd May the protests will be held across the country.
