National Assembly Seeks To Re-Conduct The MDCAT 2020

The national assembly is considering to re-conduct the medical and dental college admission test 2020. The session of NA was held on 11th January 2021 and Standing Committee on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination raised the objections and showed concerns over the medical entry test conducted on 29th November and special exam on 13th December by the Pakistan medical commission. Among the total of registered 126,025 students, 121,310 students appeared for the test. 138 students who tested positive for COVID-19 were deferred to take the special exam. 

MDCAT 2020 Retest

The meeting was chaired by Khalid Magsi, and he instructed the PMC to solve the problems of the candidates regarding MDCAT 2020. The members highlighted that many questions were out of the syllabus and the commission had not granted the grace marks to the students. So by considering the raised objections the national assembly committee proposed to re-conduct the MDCAT for the satisfaction of the students. Many students are still protesting against the result announced by the commission and demanding an explanation from the medical commission. The lawmakers also questioned that MDCAT should be conducted at the provincial level rather than the national level. Furthermore, the national assembly has directed the PMC officials to appear before the committee and provide the clarification of allegations. 

Reservation Of Sindh Government

During the session, it was also pointed out that PMC had admitted that in the entrance exam 14 questions were out of the syllabus whereas the Sindh officials had reported that 37 questions were out of the announced MDCAT syllabus. Due to this reason, the members urged the NA to order for the MDCAT 2020 retest. Furthermore, there were many errors and discrepancies found in the test and result. To satisfy the students the PMC had earlier announced the recounted MDCAT results for all the candidates.
