Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) has said that from January 1st, 2017 it will only issue smart national identity cards (SNICs) from January 1, 2017, and that it will no longer be issuing normal CINCs (cards without SIM).

As per the private news channel, issuance of normal CNICs will be discontinued at the executive centres of Nadra before December 31st, 2016.

In addition, in direct defiance of the Interior Minister’s orders, Nadra officials at an executive centre situated in the premises of the Parliament are issuing CNIC at a fee of Rs 800, which is double the normal fee of Rs 400 set by Nadra.

The officials said that this is being done in order to meet the expenses of the centre.
