Islamabad: The National Assembly Standing Committee on Education and Professional Training has recommended the establishment of a university in every district with an objective of providing higher education facility at the door steps.
During NA committee visit to the Higher Education Commission in Islamabad, it observed that this step will decrease the pressure on government sector universities at provincial headquarters.
The chairperson of HEC said that the FATA University at FR Kohat would be completely functional by this year while its campuses would be established at agency level in coming three years.
At the same time, the Standing Committee has also directed the HEC to shut down sub-campuses of various universities to avoid the differences and maintain higher standards of education.
