Lahore, Prof Dr Malik Husain Mubashar has assumed the charge of vice-chancellor, University of Health Sciences (UHS). According to a press release issued on Monday, the Punjab government issued the notification of his appointment as UHS VC on a regular basis on Saturday for a four years term in accordance with Section 12(1), (2) and (3) of the UHS (Amendment) Act, 2009.
Prof Mubashar, being the founder vice-chancellor, has earlier served as UHS VC for two consecutive terms. He had resigned on April 1. He is an internationally acclaimed psychiatrist, academician, research scholar and medical educationist. He has around 40 years experience of teaching and practicing psychiatry, with more than 100 publications in national and international journals to his credit. He is the author of 28 books.
In recognition of his services in medical education and research, Prof Mubashar was awarded Sitara-i-Imtiaz (1986) and Hilal-i-Imtiaz (2002) by the Government of Pakistan. Internationally, he has been honored as “Companion of Honour” by the University of Manchester, UK. He was declared as one of the “Top 100 Educators of the World” by the International Biographical Centre, Cambridge, UK, in 2008 and 2009.
