Ministry of IT & Telecom Launches Google CS’s First Program For Pakistani Students

Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication has launched Google CS’s first program for Pakistani Students. The Federal Minister, Syed Aminul Haque inaugurated the ceremony. The Telecom Foundation, Virtual University, and Teach Valley Pakistan also played a significant role in launching this program to facilitate the students to learn IT skills and coding. This step has been taken to introduce digitalization in Pakistan to equip the students with latest skills to produce the new technology developers and pioneers. The main purpose is to make the youth understand the importance of the digital skills that are necessary to compete in the race of technology in this modern world.

What is CS First Program?

CS First Program is a coding program designed for kids aged between 9 to 14. It consists of the computer science curriculum that is taught through video-based activities with diverse themes to elevate the interest of the students. Teach valley has devised the CS First curriculum that suits the Pakistani context and also developed the implementation plan.

Initial Phase of Program

Telecom foundation schools of the three cities such as Lahore, Karachi, and Islamabad will benefit in the initial phase. The program majorly consists of two parts such as the training of the trainers and the orientation of the students for digital literacy. Through this program, the students will be able to learn the additional skills that can help them to earn by using digital platforms. Virtual University has offered its campuses for the training of the teachers as well as the students. The university ensures to provide support for the program deliverance to promote online education in Pakistan.

SEED Project

In the last year, the telecom foundation launched the SEED project to create opportunities for underprivileged students so that they can become a part of the country’s digital economy. The Google CS first program will also be a stepping milestone in the success of the SEED project by uplifting the facilities provided to the students.
