MDCAT Result 2020: Post Exam Analysis Of Medical Entry Test

Today on 16th December the Pakistan medical commission has announced the national MDCAT test result 2020. The medical and dental college admission test comprised of 200 questions and the officials had declared to secure at least 60% marks to clear the test. This year PMC has conducted two MDCAT tests, one that was held on 29th November while the other one was conducted on 13th December for the students that tested positive for COVID-19. As per the directives issued by the Sindh high court, PMC announces the result of both MDCAT test on the same day.

According to the post-exam analysis, the MDCAT was carried out as per the international standards that confirmed its reliability. There were few out of syllabus questions included in the entrance test but as the equal benefit has been granted to all the candidates so no student will be adversely affected. In the MDCAT held on 29th November, a total of fourteen questions were out of the syllabus that includes seven in biology, five in physics, and one in chemistry. Furthermore, the authorities clarified that the questions were not removed from the scoring criteria being out of the syllabus but due to ambiguity and discrimination. Different textbooks are being taught in the various parts of Pakistan that result in confusion as they did not follow the curriculum of the relevant board. 

Reliability of MDCAT

Cronbach’s alpha is used to determine the reliability of the exam and it also measures the internal consistency. The scale of the reliability ranges from zero to one with one being maximum. So according to the scale used the MDCAT is determined to be reliable and it was conducted according to the proper standards. According to the PMC officials, 121181 candidates appeared in the MDCAT whereas 67611 candidates qualified after attaining the 60% marks. The PMC has issued the MDCAT result 2020 and the students can check their result through the roll number. After the result declaration, still many students are not satisfied with the MDCAT and regarded it unfair exam.
