MA/MSc exams of University of Peshawar (UoP) to commence from July 14

PESHAWAR, The University of Peshawar MA and MSc examinations will commence from July 14. This was decided unanimously at a meeting of departmental and administrative heads of the university. The meeting was called at the request of Controller of Examinations of the UoP Iftikhar Hussain Khan, and was chaired by Dean of Faculty of Numerical and Physical Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Iqbal.

The controller of examinations told the meeting that UoP arranged over 130 examinations in a year and always wanted to hold examinations in a fair and transparent manner. He said for the MA and MSc examinations over 400 question papers were being prepared. He requested the heads of departments to take a decision on the examinations with consensus to save precious time of the students.

The heads of the departments said although time of the students had been wasted because of the closure of university as a result of trouble on the campus last month, the courses would be covered by June 15 at the maximum. They said they saw no harm in holding MA and M.Sc examinations before Ramazan so as to start the new session on time after Eidul Fitr.

They said conducting examinations after the Eid holidays would not be advisable because the present examination structure would be disturbed and the session would be delayed, especially for the final-year students.

Prof Iqbal informed the meeting that the university had decided to comply with the notification by the federal government and UoP would observe two holidays a week. He said that the new order would be effective from May 10 till July 31. He said the University Public School and University Model School would, however, remain open on Saturdays.

Acting UoP Registrar Dr Syed Fazli Hadi served as convener for the meeting while Provost Dr Muhammad Bashir, Prof Dr Nasir Jamal, Prof Dr Shafiq ur Rehman along with deans and departmental heads were also present in the meeting.
