LUMS to start sports activities

Lahore, Lahore University of Management Science LUMS is going to start sports activities from today Oct 4 to Oct 6. The Office of Sports, Wellness & Recreation and SLUMS bring a host of sporting activities for the LUMS community.

LUMS Cricket Club will host the first inter-university T20 tri-series from Oct 4 to Oct 6. Teams from LUMS, LSE and UMT will battle against each other. The series will also provide vital match practice to these three teams as they look to build formidable squads for the HEC Nationals.

Table Tennis Male and Female Ranking Tournament will held on Oct 5 to Oct 7.

The Badminton Ranking Tournament will be held from Oct 4-6. There will be male singles and female singles.

The Squash Ranking Tournament will also start this week, where squash team players will compete against each other to win the prestigious honour of becoming LUMS Number One Squash Player. There will be two groups and each player will play a best of three games against the other.

The Tennis Ranking Tournament will be on a knock-out basis. Each match will consist of one set; the first player to get to six games, with a two game advantage will be the winner. The draw will be decided as soon as the registration period ends.

Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) is a world class academic institution with a proud history of achievement, and ambitious plans for the future.

In 2011, two majors were introduced to the undergraduate programs at LUMS. The School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law added a BA History to their extensive list of majors. The Suleman Dawood School of Business started offering a BSc in Management Science to supply to the increased demand of a business major at the undergraduate level. Living up to its commitment of offering new graduate programs, the university added new MS and PhD programs to the portfolio of the School of Science and Engineering in 2012.
 
New MS degree in Electrical Engineering was introduced along with new doctoral programs in Biology, Chemistry, Electrical Engineering, and Physics.
