Lahore: An aspirant of Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) was found dead in his hostel room on Monday.

Defence B SHO Ziaul Haq told the media sources that the student died because of the heroin overdose.

“A postmortem will not be carried out as requested by his family,” said Haq.

In a note to students as well as faculty members, LUMS management said:


“It is with deep grief that we are writing to share very tragic news: Our MIMS student and also the hostel resident Shahmir Asif Bajwa has passed away.”


Shahmir was found ‘dead’ in bed in his room on December 12th, 2016. LUMS management was informed immediately after he was found and Shahmir was shifted to National Defence Hospital without any delay, where the doctors said he had expired earlier during the day.

The family of the student reached Lahore from Karachi today as they were unable to earlier because of the fog. A resident of Karachi, he was a student of Accounting and Finance in his 5th semester.
