Lahore, Hassan Bin Haseeb, a student of Computer Science , Class of 2013 at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) has been selected to join Microsoft after this year’s round of recruitment.

Haseeb is one of the three students from LUMS who cleared the first round of the Microsoft recruitment process and went to Dubai for further interviews. He is yet another LUMS CS student who has received a job offer from Microsoft before graduation. Previously, Muhammad Abdur Rauf and Maisem Jaffer Ali, senior Computer Science students at the SBASSE, both secured jobs at Microsoft a year before graduation.

Before this, Muhammad Abdur Rauf, a senior Computer Science (CS) student at the LUMS School of Science and Engineering (SSE), has received a job offer from Microsoft before graduation. He joined from Fall 2012. In November 2011, Maisem Jaffer Ali, also a CS major at SSE secured a job at Microsoft a year before graduation. Maisem was selected for an internship at Microsoft after a difficult interview process.

During the internship he worked with the Microsoft Silverlight Media team as a Software Test Intern at Redmond, Washington. He was given the task of developing tools to test their new Silverlight-5 and Windows-8 platforms. Maisem performed so well during this time, that on the last day of his internship he was offered a position at Microsoft.

Back at LUMS SSE, Maisem identified the technical skills of batch mate Rauf and advised him to apply to Microsoft. Last month, Rauf was interviewed by the HR personnel at Microsoft over the phone. After judging his basic grounding in CS and some behavioural questions, he was asked to come to Dubai for technical interviews, for which all expenses were covered by Microsoft.

Rauf go through four technical interviews of 45 minutes duration each. These were one on one interview, where his previous projects were examined and discussed in detail. He was also asked to solve algorithms and do program coding. In the last interview he was given a coding problem which he was asked to correct. After an exceptional performance at the interviews, he was offered a job at Microsoft US, which he has accepted.
