Peshawar: The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will set-up a new school in the province and names it after Fakhar Zaman, the opening batsman who played a contributory role in the victory of Pakistan cricket team in the Champions Trophy final against India.

The media adviser for Minister Najiullah Khattak told the media sources that on Monday, the Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Atif Khan called up the star batsman, who belongs to Katlang tehsil of Mardan district and congratulated him on his exceptional performance and the victory of the team against the competitors India.

As per Najiullah Khattak, Khan also spoke to the father of star batsman, Faqir Gul, and discussed the condition of the education in their village.

The minister told Faqir Gul that the whole nation was proud of his son and Mardan, the district he belongs to.

Khattak furthermore added that on the request of Zaman and his father, Khan had announced that a government sector school will be established in the village of the cricketer.  

Khan also decided that this school will be named after Zaman.

The construction of this school will begin after Eid and it will be armed along with all the advanced facilities.

Fakhar Zaman was born in Enzergay village and moved to Karachi at the age of 16 years. Then he joined Pakistan Navy however switched his attention to the cricket after a year.

This celebrity cricketer made his superb cricket debut in 2013 along with the Karachi Blues. He had a fantastic run in Pakistan Cup of last year where he scored 297 runs in 4 matches, involving two 50s and a century as well.

In the Champions Trophy final held on Sunday, Zaman scored total 114 runs against India and was got the man of the match award.

The owner of Bahir town has also announced a one-kanal plot in Bahria Town for Zaman for his brilliant performance in the match.

Zaman belongs to a very poor family and he is the youngest of 5 brothers.

His father works as a farmer whereas his elder brother is a teacher in the Government High School Katlang.
