Peshawar: The Auqaf and Minority Affairs Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa distributed cash among the parents of poor aspirants for buying textbooks, stationery as well as to purchase school uniforms. 

Senior representative of the Auqaf Department, Rehan Khattak, distributed Rs1.21 million between 211 poor aspirants mainly from the Christian community at ceremony organized at Saint John Vianney Boys High School, City Circular Road, Peshawar.

The parents of eligible students received the cash prize. The representative of the department moreover said that it was the government policy to help the poor and deserving candidates so that they can eaisllr get access to quality education.

The principal of the school, Hidayat, appreciated the efforts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for this project. He also asked the parents to encourage children to get high quality education.

A mother while talking to media said that she was happy in receiving the cash prize as her kids Daud Arshad and Hasan now will be able to purchase new textbooks and school uniforms. She said that she could not afford to purchase new books and uniforms for her children as she was working as a maid.

Shumaila Rasheed, student of 6th grade, said that her mother will borrow old books and uniform from the senior aspirants.
