KPK Government Closes Schools In Different Cities Due To Increase In Coronavirus Cases

The KP government has announced to close the schools in the different cities due to the rapid increase in coronavirus cases. The COVID-19 positivity ratio has crossed 10% in the province and by considering the situation of the pandemic the government has taken this decision. Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahram Tarakai said the authorities are continuously monitoring the COVID-19 situation and school authorities are instructed to follow the SOPs to save from the lethal virus. 

The Announcement by KP Education Minister

According to the announcement made by the KP education minister the school will be closed from 18th March 2021 to 28th March 2021. He stated that the students will not attend the schools during these vacations. However, the staff member will continue to come to schools and the parents can also collect the homework from the teachers. As per directives issued by the Kp government the schools have been closed in the various areas that include Charsadda, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Kohat, Malakand, Swat, and Dir Lower. The education minister added that the schools in the districts with the ratio of COVID-19 cases above 5% will be closed. The meeting of the national command and operation center was held on 10th March 2021 in which it had been announced that schools in the Punjab and city of Peshawar will be shut down from 15th March 2021 to 28th March 2021 due to the upsurge in the cases of coronavirus. 

Implementation of SOPs

The chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa has urged the people to follow the SOPs and the current situation of the coronavirus is very alarming. Furthermore, the meeting of the ministers of the KP will be held again to review the ongoing situation of the virus across the province and to take further decisions.
