Kashmir: As per the official statement given by the officials, the campus of Karakoram International University will be established in Diamer valley.

If you were wondering why Diamer valley sounds common, then you might end up recalling the Diamer-Bhasha Dam, which is being constructed in the same zone.

The valley is under-construction and it lacks educational facilities.

The statement by the Karakoram International University comes in answer to recent developments in the region, after politicians and youth living in the Diamer valley blamed the Governor of Gilgit-Baltistan, Ghazanfar Ali, of stopping construction of the university’s campus in the region.

He was also blamed for saying that the district requires madrassas and not universities.

Another University’s campus to be established in Hunza

The stamen given by the university further added that approval from the federal government has been received for establishing a campus in the Diamer district and a campus in Hunza.

The Hunza campus will be established at the same time as the Diamer campus.

The Diamer valley is located about 100 kilometers away from Gilgit and it contains 77% of the total forest-cover in Gilgit-Baltistan.
