Karachi University to Hold Online And In-Person Exams

Karachi University has announced to hold the exams in the hybrid mode. The university officials have clarified that they will not only opt for the online exams to assess the performance of the students but also on-campus exams will be conducted. Earlier a fake notification had been circulating on social media regarding the commencement of the exams. According to the notification, it had been informed to the students that the university will take all the terminal examinations online instead of following the hybrid mode of exams. The candidates are now notified to prepare for both modes of exams. 

Hybrid Mode Exams

The concerned authorities said that the university had not taken any new decision and the officials will follow the previously announced decision. According to the previous decision of the university, a hybrid mode of assessment will be used with 40% of weightage for grades of students assigned to the physical exams and the remaining 60% to the course work depending upon the teaching method. It is furthermore informed to the candidates that the departments that held the online classes for the students during the coronavirus pandemic will hold the online examinations. The weightage for the physical exams should not be more than 40% of the total marks. The examinations of the second semester are scheduled to commence from 25th January 2021 to 15th February 2021. 

Guidelines For Students

In the case the students are suffering from the COVID-19, they will not be allowed to appear in the annual exams. It is advised for such candidates to submit the application form to their respective departments and attach the report with it. The Karachi University will conduct the exams for the affected students later on. The candidates will be informed about the exam schedule soon by the university. Earlier the higher education commission had allowed the universities to hold the online exams in the ongoing situation of the coronavirus pandemic, whereas the University of Health Sciences has announced to not commence the online exams for MBBS and BDS.
