Karachi, The second International Symposium-cum-Training Course
on Molecular Medicine and Drug Research will be held from January 12 to January
15, 2009 at the International Centre for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS),
University of Karachi (KU).
As many as 100 scientists from 30 countries of the world are expected to attend
the international event, organised by Dr Panjwani Centre for Molecular Medicine
and Drug Research (PCMD), KU.
ICCBS Director, Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, stated that the aim of the event
is to develop understanding and appreciation of the emerging field of Molecular
Medicine and Drug Research in Pakistan, to bring together leading experts in the
field of molecular medicine from across the world and forge global partnership
for the common benefits of humanity and rapid development of the countries in
the South.
“The inaugural ceremony of the molecular event will be held on Monday at
9.30 am at the ICCBS Auditorium. The KU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr Pirzada Qasim
Raza Siddiqui will inaugurate the symposium while COMSTECH Coordinator General
and former Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman, Prof. Dr Atta-ur-Rahman
will be the guest of honour at the occasion. KU Dean Faculty of Science, Prof.
Dr Shahana Urooj Kazmi, Prof. Dr Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, and others will also
express their views in the inaugural ceremony,” he added.
