The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, has officially launched the Honhaar Scholarship Program 2025 to support talented students across the province. The initiative aims to provide 30,000 merit-based scholarships annually in 68 disciplines, ensuring that deserving students are not deprived of higher education due to financial constraints.
According to the Punjab government, a total of Rs. 130 billion will be distributed over the next eight years under this program, directly benefiting 120,000 students in the first four years. The scheme is designed in line with the global job market’s requirements, preparing students to compete internationally.

The Honhaar Scholarship Program is one of the largest educational initiatives in Punjab’s history, covering students enrolled in:
50 Public Sector Universities
16 Medical Colleges
131 Graduate Colleges
10 Top Private Universities, including LUMS, FAST, COMSATS, NUST, and GIKI
This inclusion of both public and top private sector institutions makes the program more accessible and diverse. The scholarships are available for Science, Arts, Social Sciences, Medicine, and Technology programs.
To ensure that scholarships reach truly deserving candidates, the Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) has issued strict eligibility criteria:
Applicant must have Punjab domicile.
Must not be older than 22 years on the closing date.
Family monthly income should be less than Rs. 300,000 (affidavit required).
Must be enrolled in Fall 2024 session in a recognized university or college.
Academic requirements:
Medical Colleges: Minimum 80% marks in FSc/Intermediate
Top Private Universities: Minimum 80% marks
Public Sector Universities: 75% (Sciences), 70% (Arts/Social Sciences)
Graduate Colleges: 65% (Sciences), 60% (Arts/Social Sciences)
Additionally, newly admitted MBBS and BDS students in 2024 are also eligible for this program.
