Higher Education commission ready to establish University of Central Asia

Islamabad: Higher education Commission of Pakistan is ready to set up the University of Central Asia and Pakistan (UCAP) in Islamabad along with the funding of Rs 2.84 billion.

This educational institute is targeted towards the aspirants from Central Asian states.

To set up the varsity, approximately Rs. 600 million had already been given in 2016-17 budget. Additional amount of Rs 500 million for the same would be given in the upcoming financial year.

Along with the funding, the construction of the main structure of the UCAP is ready to begin in the coming days, when some remaining technical matters have been taken care of.

Locality yet to be decided

Up till now, the final location for the varsity has not been decided. Though till then, the classes for UCAP are set to commence in September 2018 at COMSATS University Islamabad campus.

The provision of land for UCAP will be decided this year in August.

The government targets to promote the cultural exchange, economic as well as social development and international peace and also the stability by providing top quality education for the aspirants of Central Asian countries and making Pakistan a center for education.

This will also facilitate increased cooperation among the Central Asian countries as well as Pakistan, which will definitely have a great impression on regional understanding.

At first, UCAP will offer various programs in Schools of Business and Leadership. The procedure of induction of staff, faculty as well as the head of departments is in progress.

The confirmation of admissions and courses on offer would be clouded after the induction of staff as well as the faculty members.

Any eligible candidate from any state can apply for the seat of head of the university and also for the faculty positions at varsity.

However, he/she must fulfill the rest of the selection criteria set by the higher education commission (HEC).

The endowment of land as well as the main structure for the varsity will be taken care of by the Pakistani government whereas Central Asian countries can also take part in the functioning costs by providing scholarships as well as the other financial support.
