Higher Education Commission Announces CPEC Collaborative Research Grant

The higher education commission of Pakistan has announced the CPEC collaborative research grant. The faculty members of the public and private universities/research awarding institutes have to submit the research proposals. Through the joint research of the Pakistan and China universities, the potential candidates will be drawn to both sides. The research is mainly focused on the various areas that include Sustainable Agriculture, Health and Wellbeing, Clean Water and Sanitation, Poverty Alleviation, Science & Technology for Sustainable Development, Sustainable Cities and Communities, Cultural Harmony between Pakistan and China, Sustainable Energy, and Sustainable Infrastructure. The CPEC collaborative research grant is one of the key components of the recently launched initiatives of HEC named “Academic collaboration under CPEC consortium of universities”. The candidates will be selected on the basis of merit and the authorities ensure complete transparency in the selection procedure. The amount of the funding is approximately 50 million with project duration of 3 years. In exceptional cases, the funding can be raised up to 100 million. 

Applicant Eligibility

• For the principal investigator, the applicant should be a faculty member working on a regular/ contract basis in the Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan.
• For the project team, there should be one academic partner as Co-PI from Chinese HEIs and one from Pakistani HEIs and it may include consortia of faculty members from multiple universities. 

Submission Procedure

• The candidates have to submit the online application form along with the required documents through the HEC web portal. 
• The deadline for full project proposal submission is 31st March 2021. 
• The application forms submitted through any other medium such as email, hard copies, etc will not be considered. 
• The proposals must be made according to the guidelines issued by the higher education commission for submission of Proposals document.
